Carbivore, CALORIE Science Gallery, Bengaluru, 2025
Bread for breakfast, rice for lunch, and roti for dinner. These carbohydrate-rich meals no longer complement many of our sedentary lifestyles. Carbivore examines our relationship with this macronutrient and what it means to society. Artists Priya Mani and Vinay Venkatraman explore how carbs are more than just calories—they shape tradition, deeply influence our health, and also impact the environment.
As you choose an ingredient in this exhibit, the screens around you show the health impact and ecological consequences of our carbohydrate cravings. With most of our plates still carrying large amounts of carbohydrates—are we becoming 'carbivores'?
